Ghana
In rural Ghana, on average, girls attain 4 years of education, compared to 13 years in more affluent areas.
PEAS launched its first pilot in Ghana in 2023, working with local partners to strengthen government schools through a sustainable school improvement model. We’re now reaching over 12,500 students across 62 schools in two north-western districts, improving learning and opportunity for every child.
We are working with the Ghana Education Service and local partner Savannah Education Trust to deliver a sustainable school improvement programme, reaching over 15,000 students across 65 schools in north-western Ghana.
After 15 years of operation, PEAS is ready to utilise our experience and expertise to support transformational change in new geographies.
In 2023 we launched our first ever programme in Ghana. Working in partnership with the Savannah Education Trust, and the local Ghana Education Service, we have co-designed the programme to ensure its relevance to the local context whilst drawing on our learnings and expertise from PEAS school improvement programmes in Uganda and Zambia.
The pilot is being delivered in 65 basic and junior high schools in two north-western districts in Ghana
Through this programme, we are focusing on building school leaders’ capacity to drive long-term improvements, including inclusive teaching practices and robust safeguarding systems.
