Going to School is not Enough
Across Africa, access to education has expanded, but access and learning remain deeply uneven.
More children are in school than ever before, but too many never reach secondary education, leave before completing it, or attend schools that are not safe, well-led, or able to support real learning.
In the poorest countries, children are still far less likely to attend or complete school, and even when they do, many are not gaining the skills they need.
The challenge is not only getting children into classrooms.
It is ensuring that the schools they attend actually work.
Our Approach: Learning That Works
We focus on what makes schools effective and how to deliver that consistently at scale. We do this in two ways:
1. Build and Run Great Schools
We build and run high-quality schools for underserved communities where students are safe, supported, and able to learn.
These schools show what effective education looks like in practice, with strong leadership, supported teachers, and systems that enable learning.
2. Strengthen Education Systems
Our schools are not the endpoint. They are the starting point.
We work with governments to turn what we learn from running great schools into practical, system-wide improvements. Rather than creating parallel systems, we help strengthen public education so more schools can deliver high-quality learning.
Together, this approach extends our impact far beyond the schools we operate, reaching more than a quarter of a million students each year across Uganda, Zambia, and Ghana.

These are not theoretical ideas. They are approaches that have been developed, tested, and refined through years of operating schools and working alongside governments.
Our Ambition
By 2035, Africa will be home to the world's largest youth population. Whether this generation can reach its potential depends on the quality of education it receives today.
